TW2030 Gewone Differentiaalvergelijkingen/ Ordinary Differential Equations [2016-2017]
In this course for second year math students, given in the second quarter, existence and uniqueness theorems for ODEs are studied. Different solution
methods like power series, laplace transforms will be treated. We will use the book
"Differential equations and their applications" 4.-th edition of M. Braun. During the course
homework will be provided inclusing two maple homework exercises;
At the end of the course there will be a written exam. The homework contributes 30% to the final grade and the written exam 70%.
Students pass the course when the exam grade>5 and the final grade>6. More information can be found on blackboard.
TW3050 Mathematisch fysische modellen/ Mathematical Physical Models [2016-2017]
This course is given in the third quarter together with prof. Heemink. The ellective is for
third year mathematics students. Evaluations take place by an oral examination at the end
of the quarter and had-in exercises distributed during the course.
We use the book "Fields, flows and waves" by D. Parker. More information is available on blackboard.
Advanced modelling [2016-2017]
This course consists of partial differential equations models for which the students
need to work in groups. A introoduction lecture is given by prof. A.W. Heemink.
TW4040 Continuum mechanics Mastermath course [2015-2016] again in [2017-2018]
In this course, taught with M. Peletier (TUE), the theorerical and mathematical concepts behind continuum mechanics are taught.
Afer the course the students should have a thorough understanding of the equations that underly continuum mechanics and
be capable to use these equations to model continuum problems.
Continous assessment using homework exercises and an oral exam at the end determine the final grade.
More information can be found on the mastermath homepage.
